Amanda O’Blenis is a second-generation NBCC student and the proud recipient of this year’s NBCC Alumni Family Scholarship, an annual award that supports and encourages future generations of NBCC alumni, generously sponsored by TD Insurance.
Intent on making a difference for both her family and her community, Amanda O’Blenis is following in the footsteps of her mother, an NBCC graduate.
O’Blenis graduated from the Business Administration: Management program in 2019 and is currently enrolled in the post-graduate Human Resources Management Program at NBCC Moncton Campus. The daughter of an NBCC graduate, she aspired to pursue a career in Human Resources and knew that NBCC could help her achieve the success she was searching for.
An active volunteer for many organizations, O’Blenis has a passion for making a difference, a trait that inspired her to pursue a career in Human Resource Management.
“I want to contribute to organizations to be the change that companies need and employees deserve,” she said in explaining the reason for choosing the NBCC program.
Just as important to O’Blenis is the knowledge that not only is she following in her mother’s footsteps by pursuing a career at NBCC, but she’s also a role model for her own daughter.
O’Blenis has persevered in the workforce as a farmer, self-employed designer, and independent consultant, all while managing the duties of parenthood. As she shifted to becoming a student, she was ready to take on a new challenge, but knew it would be a lot of hard work. Inspired by her previous success in the Business Administration: Management program, O’Blenis is excited to now focus her career aspirations on a career in Human Resources Management.
“I have regained confidence in myself and my abilities, and hope that my empathy toward others, as well as my compassion and dedication, will make me an exceptional human resources manager.”
