MONCTON – For more than four decades, New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) has been a driving force in New Brunswick’s economic and social prosperity. NBCC’s programs, services and initiatives support the aspirations of individual learners, further the opportunities of the labour market and, in collaboration with partners, enable solutions for the challenges of communities and industry.
One of those partners is GM Canada, a world leader in transportation products and services. For more than 30 years, GM Canada has partnered with the Moncton Campus of NBCC in a mutually beneficial relationship.
The partnership between NBCC and GM Canada began when the College’s automotive instructors started training within GM’s Moncton facility. NBCC has been involved with GM’s Automotive Services Educational Program since 1990 and in 2010, when technical service training was moved out of GM’s Moncton facility, the company selected NBCC, with automotive training curriculum already in place, as its new training site.
The company provides NBCC’s automotive programs with specialized tools, GM vehicles and major vehicle components for hands-on learning, and also provides updated training for instructors. For GM, the partnership with NBCC has provided many of the company’s eastern region dealers with the opportunity to train technicians in the latest technologies and diagnostic skills.
In celebration of the partnership between the College and the company, NBCC Moncton has awarded its first Industry Partner Award to GM Canada. The award recognizes the company’s consistent and dedicated support of NBCC learners and alumni.
