At the Gerald S. Merrithew Allied Health Education Centre of NBCC, students and staff have a long history of giving back to the community. They’re carrying on that tradition with two community projects this fall.
On September 29, they took part in the Big Bike Ride in support of the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. Team AHEC raised $2,665, bringing their four-year total for this fundraiser to $12,349.
In October, staff and students participated in the Purse Project, a national initiative that calls upon Canadians to fill new or gently used purses with personal care essentials. The purses are then provided to women facing unfortunate life circumstances. AHEC is proud to have contributed 22 generously-filled purses to this worthy cause, helping vulnerable women in Saint John.
The staff and students at AHEC are prime examples of NBCC’s commitment to community leadership and service learning.
