This year marks a milestone year for the Commonwealth as it celebrates its 75th anniversary. The Commonwealth encompasses 56-member countries, representing 2.7 billion people globally. In honour of this historic occasion, a commemorative album, The Commonwealth at 75, has been launched, highlighting institutions and organizations making a meaningful impact—including our New Brunswick Community College (NBCC).
NBCC proudly stands in the global spotlight, as part of this book, and one of only 12 colleges featured. Flipping through the sleek and glossy pages of the hardcovered, vibrantly coloured album, you’ll find NBCC’s story—a story that showcases our trailblazing path in breaking down barriers to education, our partnerships that open more doors to opportunity, and our ongoing commitment to giving back to our community in meaningful ways.
On October 9th, leaders from around the globe came together for the book’s official launch at Westminster Abbey in London, England, putting several of NBCC’s groundbreaking efforts on an international stage, such as the Mobile Training Centre (MTC), In Bloom Scholarship, Robertson Institute, and our transformative approach to recognizing prior learning.
At NBCC, we are committed to driving social and economic wellbeing in New Brunswick through education, and with this international acknowledgement we want to inspire conversations about the power of a postsecondary education at home, and beyond. This achievement reflects the passion, purpose, and unwavering commitment of our NBCC community. Together, we are setting a benchmark for how higher education institutions can contribute to broader societal goals.
As you read this, know that this achievement belongs to everyone who walks or has walked through the halls of NBCC. It’s a story made possible by the hands, hearts, and minds of the people who work and learn here (past and present). From the instructors who inspire, the staff who are always there to support, to the students and alumni who transform communities, to the partners and community who create opportunities—you are the reason NBCC has a story worth sharing.
