MONCTON – New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is committed to transforming lives and communities, but it wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and leadership of all those who make up the NBCC family.
At the Moncton Campus, the generosity and goodwill of department head Carole Murphy was recently recognized by a community organization and a professional sports team when she was named a Magic Maker.
The United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick has teamed up with the Moncton Magic basketball team to recognize Magic Makers – those who go above and beyond to make the community a better place to live and work.
In selecting Murphy as a Magic Maker, the United Way noted her leadership at NBCC and her volunteerism in the local community. She is a founding member of the Riverview High School Booster Club and the 3-on-3 tournament at RHS. She is also a passionate member of the organizing team for the local Dragon Boat Festival, increasing the number of high school boats from 7 to 29 and helping raise more than $1,000,000.
Murphy gives generously of her time, talents, expertise and heart. Through her special gift for lifting others up, she has made the Greater Moncton area better and stronger.
Members of the Moncton Magic basketball team surprised Murphy at work with her prize – four courtside tickets and exclusive access to the club lounge at a home Magic game, during which she was recognized as Magic Maker.
