Jason Blonde, NBCC’s Coordinating Instructor for Hotel and Restaurant Management, plays a key role in shaping the next generation of hospitality leaders in New Brunswick. With over 20 years of industry experience, Jason brings extensive knowledge and a commitment to excellence, leaving a lasting impact on both his students and the province’s hospitality sector.
Before joining NBCC in 2016, Jason built an impressive career with Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. He managed diverse hotel operations and coordinated large-scale events, including those that catered to thousands. His experiences working with celebrities like Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez, and managing the high-pressure logistics of large-scale operations, bring a dynamic, real-world perspective to his teaching.
At NBCC, Jason is known for creating immersive, hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for the fast-paced hospitality industry. One standout example is his food truck simulation, where students compete in the “fishbowl” kitchen—it is a program favourite. This annual event has become a major hit, selling out quickly and offering students a realistic taste of the challenges and rewards of the industry.
Similarly, the on-campus Dining Room 1234 at NBCC Moncton has seen incredible growth, thanks in part to Jason’s efforts in promoting it through social media. The dining room provides students with valuable work-integrated learning opportunities, allowing them to develop and practice their service skills with the public. Eight years ago, it catered to a small group of regulars, but with active social media promotion, meals now sell out within days—or even hours—of announcement.
Jason’s dedication extends beyond the classroom. By partnering with organizations like Savour NB and maintaining active connections with industry networks such as the TIANB / AITNB, he ensures NBCC’s curriculum stays relevant and responsive to provincial and national trends. His efforts directly support the growth of New Brunswick’s tourism and hospitality sector, empowering students to contribute meaningfully to the province’s economy.
Jason’s influence is felt in every aspect of the program, his approach ensures that graduates leave NBCC with technical expertise, confidence, and leadership skills to thrive in a dynamic and evolving industry. Under Jason’s leadership, NBCC’s Hotel and Restaurant Management program has become a cornerstone of excellence, equipping students to make an impact locally and beyond. His work continues to elevate both NBCC and the hospitality sector in New Brunswick. We are proud to have Jason as a crucial part of NBCC’s Hotel and Restaurant Management program.
