FREDERICTON – When three Information Technology: Programmer Analyst students from the Fredericton Campus of New Brunswick Community College met their peers from across the country in friendly competition, they were more than ready for the challenge. Their work stood up against that of industry professionals and Master’s students, earning them a podium finish at the University of New Brunswick’s Data Visualization Competition.
Pavani Moturu, Marina Libin, and Phoebe Nguyen are international learners from India, Russia and Vietnam, respectively. Their project, an analysis and visualization of the New Brunswick labour market, placed third from among 24 teams
Teams were required to present the data they had analyzed in a rapid pitch and create an infographic for display. Team NBCC’s analysis broke down the province’s labour market by employee earnings in various sectors and by gender.
Moturu, Libin and Nguyen will use their project in the Data Retrieval and Visualization course of the Programmer Analyst program at NBCC.
