FREDERICTON – New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is once again joining the Giving Tuesday movement, asking community members to support its Critical Aid Fund with a $5 donation by texting NBCC to 20222.
“NBCC has a strong tradition of giving back and instilling in our learners a sense of community service and leadership,” said Marilyn Luscombe, President and CEO of NBCC. “Giving Tuesday is another opportunity for us to continue our important work of transforming lives and communities.”
NBCC’s Critical Aid Fund provides access to emergency funds for students who encounter unanticipated financial challenges that threaten their ability to complete their programs. Funding, to a maximum of $500 per student, can be provided for tuition, accommodations, transportation, nutrition, health-related expenses or family-related expenses.
“We are committed to giving our learners the tools they need to succeed,” said Luscombe. “The Critical Aid Fund can make the difference between students having to leave their programs before completion and successful graduates.”
One hundred per cent of the proceeds from NBCC’s Giving Tuesday event will be directed to the Critical Aid Fund, which has already helped students overcome their financial challenges. .
With over 90 programs and six campuses across New Brunswick, NBCC is a provincially recognized post-secondary institution reputed for producing skilled, knowledgeable college graduates. NBCC offers students full-time concentrated study periods in one- and two-year certificate and diploma programs. For more information, visit: www.nbcc.ca.
