FREDERICTON – New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) was recently approved for accreditation from the Canadian Institute of Management for its Business Administration: Management program, the only college east of Ontario with the national designation.

“This designation will open up new opportunities in the business management field for NBCC students,” said Marilyn Luscombe, President and CEO of NBCC. “It’s another way that we’re enriching the NBCC advantage for our learners.”

The accreditation means that NBCC’s Business Administration: Management program will be recognized as equivalent to the Chartered Management Program offered by the Canadian Institute of Management, allowing graduates to apply for the Certified in Management designation after obtaining 24 months of professional management experience.

The Certified in Management designation recognizes various competencies in leadership, strategy, finance, accounting, management operations and organization analysis.

National accreditation is bestowed only upon institutions that meet quality assurance standards in higher education. Programs that are nationally accredited demonstrate a high level of competency and proficiency in a particular field.

With over 90 programs and six campuses across New Brunswick, NBCC is a provincially recognized post-secondary institution renowned for producing skilled, knowledgeable college graduates. NBCC offers students full-time concentrated study periods in one- and two-year certificate and diploma programs. For more information, visit: www.nbcc.ca.
